41 - D.I.S.C.O. on the Disco

Hi Everyone,

Today was very much crunch time for the music video. We had committed to showing it to everyone at 8pm tonight and there was still much to do. Most of my day was split between editing the video and putting the finishing touches to my cruise report (which ended up being finished late at night after everything else was done). Despite it being the final day, we hadn’t actually recorded all of the video we wanted yet, and so we spent a couple of hours running around getting the last pieces (including a high quality video of Zenguin dancing). The actual editing itself was relatively manageable, though it did take slightly longer to respond to all the “constructive feedback” I received from an exclusive early viewing sessions with the other creators. In the end, the music video was very well received, people enjoyed seeing their contributions appearing, with Geraint’s “O” with the Bongos being particularly well received.

During the day, we arrived at the Falklands but couldn’t get too close or dock until we brought a pilot onboard, which was scheduled for 9am the next day. This meant we were stuck, so close yet so far, but with stunning views of the islands and the sea.

To take advantage of this, the “children” of the group went up on front deck to enjoy the sunset and see the view. We brought some drinks and our somewhat copious supplies of “nosecco” up onto the deck as well, and proceeded to work through today’s crossword as we admired the view and the wildlife. As we relaxed on the deck we took some fun photos, put on some great tunes and danced the night away…. Until suddenly, as the sun was mostly gone, a large bird came flying towards us and kept diving and circling around us getting about a metre away, before eventually settling on another part of the deck. It was too dark to properly identify the bird, but it was the size of a medium petrel or a shag. It seemed to be in some distress so we eventually moved our party to the bar and then to bed, ready for an exciting day tomorrow!
