Hi Everyone,
Today was very chill. We worked through a few CTDs and I have been enjoying my new audiobook (“The Precipice” by Toby Ord, it is a fascinating book on the risks of human extinction and how important this century is for humanity, I can highly recommend if you haven’t read it before!). Thankfully, the weather has been quite calm (waves around 1m) so it has been quite pleasant so far.
One of the highlights today (and on a great many days recently) has been the food. Our dinner was a great 3 course meal with some spinach and ricotta cannelloni, veggie meatballs and pasta and then some very well made tiramisu to finish. I have been consistently very impressed by the food onboard, it is served in a buffet style and I have honestly been eating far more and far better than I ever would at home. The standard is always very high, there is always at least one very good vegetarian option and often a good fish dish as well. The desserts are a particular highlight (for me at least). There was the aforementioned tiramisu, the infamous waffle day (I enjoyed this very much) where we had a make your own waffle stand, and even a day with churros and a variety of dipping sauces. All of this on top of the regular birthday cakes provided for people onboard, a good supply of sweet treats. Curry night is Saturday and is always phenomenal, the most recent had a lentil dahl, Bombay potatoes and every side imaginable (poppadoms, naan, rice, mango chutney, pickles etc.). Other recent highlights have included: sushi, butternut squash risotto, and even a smoked salmon pate starter.
The food is frequently one of the best things in the day and I hope to send you some photos to help you understand the excitement it brings us!
